Harsh Glittering Light
One of a series of three new seascapes I am working on. This is the first to be finished and is now hanging at Yarmouth Gallery. It is painted with knife and brushes using traditional oil paint on a deep profile stretched canvas, 80cm w x 100cm h. I have used predominantly black, burnt sienna and white to achieve the sharp contrast of light and shade that I wanted to capture. It is inspired, as is so much of my work, by a walk on the ever changing Compton Beach on a winter's day. In this series of work I want to develop the theme using this limited palette and stronger mark making in the dark accents.
